The homework policy for all English Departments is that all assignments are due on the date given. There will be a one (1) day G R A C E period that will cost students 10% lower than the grade they earned. All subsequent late days will reduce the credit 10% for each day up to five days equaling an F 50%. After two weeks the grade will automatically be a zero.
Once students have assignments that are late they begin to work on late work and fall behind on current activities which perpetuates a serious habit of not turning in their work. Late assignments do not help the student to demonstrate understanding in a timely fashion so the teacher can help before moving on to new material.
If your student struggles with keeping track of assignments may I recommend getting them an assignment notebook and have your student record the assignments in the notebook and then ask the teachers to sign the notebook. This way parents can review the notebook daily and stay abreast of their students assignments. I will be posting assignments here as well as on Schoology.
If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent assignments for being turned in on time, please feel free to give me a heads up and I will work with your student to help them get caught up. I am usually available from 7:00 a.m. before school starts and often after school until 3:30, later if requested. Please check out the late bus schedule so you are aware of when your student can stay late and still be able to use the bus to get home.
Please be aware that ALL assignments MUST be turned in printed and in hard copy. No electronic or email assignments will be counted as turned in. Students MUST hand in the assignment to the teacher at the beginning of class - NO EXCEPTIONS.
